Elecampane

$5.00
Available Spring 2025

Seedling or plant division

Inula helenium

Elecampane is a large herbaceous perennial with beautiful yellow flowers and inulin-rich roots that have a long history of medicinal use. The root can be candied and eaten, tinctured, or used to infuse honey. It can also be used to make a sugar substitute, though we have not experimented with this.

Elecampane has the potential to become weedy, so keep an eye on it. We tend to tolerate certain weedy plants because they fill the niches that would otherwise be filled with less useful weedy plants.

You will receive a divided crown or a seedling plant. Both should have no problem getting established.
